F R E S H & S I M P L E.

I love plants around the house, actually i love them everywhere! I'm a huge fan of making my own plant groupings and terrariums, and have actually been told not to get anymore. (You've heard this all before.) But when i saw these plant ideas on Family Chic i just knew i must try them! The vintage rhinestone 'plant jewelry' might be a bit blingy in my house but the idea is just magnificent. I'm thinking of doing it with vintage amber pins for a subtler spin. The colander idea is just so sweet and country kitchen feeling.
I'm moving all my interior ideas over to a new blog, so i can focus on fashion stuff here. Stay tuned.

Old Faithful, Trampoline, FFFFound.
I have an obsession with these woolen camp blankets, see
here. Growing up my dad always had an army green one that he loved, i may have cut a hole in it to make a fort once (sorry dad!). His ancient blanket makes me feel extra wishful for these. They just seem so cozy and add instant style to any room. You can throw them over the couch, use them on the end of your bed, or even throw them in a basket in the living room. I want to throw them in a basket, similar to this. I already have a great Mexican blanket, a white wool with red and blue stripes one, and a dusty pink knit one. I can't even use all i have and i'm lusting over more. Somebody stop me, i've gone mad!

Here's a little peak at my house, it looks awfully dark in these pictures, which it tends to be because it's an 1800s row house. I love to curate (if you can call it that,) little groupings of things, so here's a few glimpses of things around our house. Handmade by-my-dad wooden utensils, succulents in little interesting pots, lots of books for reading, pom pom garlands, lava rocks brought back from mount Fuji, and lots of cameras for the photographer around the house. Last but not least i can't forget my cutie kitty, Fritz, sticking her tongue out!

H O M E S W E E T H O M E.

Loving the warm, homey, feel of this oh so cute 500 sf apartment from Apartment Therapy today. The gentle mix of vintage and modern makes it feel fun and lively, yet its neither too vintage nor too modern. All the pops of color are bold, but nothing is jumping out and stealing the stage. And, can you believe how well the space is used? They can host dinner parties for up to 20 people, amazing! I'm taking some tips for my apartment, which is twice the size yet, twice as inefficient!

Gardening in Heels, At Home at Home.
I looove having plants in the house. You may or may not remember that i am currently banned from bringing any more in the house. You may have seen my numerous other posts featuring house plants. They just lend a certain air to the room, something you can't quite put your finger on. Oh yeah it's an alive feeling! That pop of green is so unmistakable and unable to be replicated in any other way.
So even though i'm banned from more plants at our house, my boyfriend has told me he would like a plant for his desk at work, something to liven up the place (ha.) For valentines i'm making him a very small, but very special planter. I've already found a small textured and patterned clay pot, and i'm filling it with a baby cactus and either some aloe or jade. (Hope you're not reading this babes!) What are you doing for v-day?

FFFFound.
Looking for a simple and cozy bedroom to curl up in. Anything with an inviting Persian rug, an interesting throw on the bed, and some great architectural details- and i'm in. Feeling a bit of red everywhere, in my outfits, in my throw pillows, and especially in details around the kitchen. Actually just giving me something comfy right now, and i surrender.

My office/DIY.
Although maybe not the most interesting of pictures, this is my daily reality. Messy desk complete with millions of post its, clutter galore, and one lone aloe plant.
Since i work at a crafty place i can use my lunch time to make cards and such. Today i whipped up a little card with matching tags for a friend who just found out hes sick. The matching tags are going to be going on blueberry muffins, chocolate covered pretzels, and maybe a bottle of wine, which will make up a little get-well-soon basket. Since hes a movie buff i included 3-D stickers with a movie reel, directors microphone, and scene slate. What are you DIYing?

Sorry for the absence, i've been so busy. My weekend included going to the movies-Black Swan was more scary than expected, all day sledding at a family member's country house-such a thrill to go down giant hills with fresh snow, drinks with friends-including some unexpected dance moves, homemade bean and bacon soup with apple fritters for dessert-delicious, and some quality family time.
Here's a healthy dose of interior inspiration. A subtle mix-in of prints and homey decorations, make for a place where you can curl up with a hot cup of chai tea and relax.

Creamy white walls, thick dark floor boards, and lots of great texture; these all describe the house im dreaming of living in today. All the white is infused with color in the bedroom. Those dreamy rugs and throws make it seem so cozy and lived in, like you could just curl up with a book. And however much a wide wood floor board melts my heart, that rustic looking brick floor in this kitchen is really working. Wish i was whipping up dinner in that kitchen!

FFFFound.
Its no secret that i'm a (huge) fan of vintage woven rugs (see here, here, here, and here). Have you ever searched eBay for a 'navajo rug'? The results are astounding, although a bit on the pricey side ($450 for a bathroom sized rug-yowza!)
After seeing the new TLC show Auction Wars, where they did 'speed rugs' (an auction segment where they sell rugs every seven seconds to the highest bidder), i realize you can get a fairly priced rug. I'm setting my sights on auctions, and maybe the occasional flea market, to find something more moderately priced to outfit my bedroom (and kitchen, and hallway, and living room- dream on!)

I think i've died and gone to textile heaven! This blog/tumblr is filled with an amazing selection of prints, patterns, and colors. Everything from knitwear, to wall paper, to childrens toys, are all covered on this site. My eyes couldn't take it all in, i had to look through a second time to catch things i missed the first time. Don't take my word for it, certainly check this out yourself!

FFFFound (x2), Wool.
Feeling so cozy and homey with these wool and knit blankets thrown around the house. I love the traditional wool version with stripes, been around for years yet its totally modern. I'm going to try my hand at knitting a big thick blue and gray striped version for lounging around with.

K N I T T I N G A R O U N D T H E W O R L D.

Everyone is making gift guides, im making a project guide, filled with things i have on my, very full, 'To-Make' list. First are these amazing terrarium kits, i regretfully can't remember where the picture is from. I do know the kit was a gift, filled with everything you need to make a complete terrarium-moss, plants, rocks, mini figurines-and labeled oh so cute.
Second are these blanket kits found on PurlSoho, at $120 the kits are a bit expensive for me, so im going to be making my own version. Im thinking more uniform colors, like maybe a gray and blue striped version.
Third is this image filled with inspiration (i like everything in it). I was going to make my own hallway runner rug because my hallway is so skinny, but i lost the link to the extra marked down, (it was $15 on sale from $75), lap loom i was planning on buying. So that's on the back burner for now.
Whats on your to-make list?

Sweater Dress: Thrifted, Clogs: Elle.
This sweater dress is the best! It cost next to nothing, looks good as a dress or with leggings, and has a great crochet-triangle pattern that unfortunately you can't see here. That's what i love about thrifting, great deals and great pieces.
Here's a little peak into my house, a precious corner in my living room. We got this down filled, ginormous couch at a macy's clearance center a couple of years ago and it is like heaven to sit on. This new lamp was picked up at the last chance section of ikea, it lends the most perfect soft light around the room. Oh and our walls are actually grey, not tan as it looks here!

Debbie Carlos.
Im always interested in large scale artwork, these prints are just magnificent. They almost seem a little foggy and hazy, like a humid summer day, a feeling im longing for as the snow has set in. At 45 bucks a pop, these really seem very reasonable. I cant get over how perfect that 'summer bounty' print would be for my blank kitchen wall, and the antler one would be great in a dinning room (if i had one.) Wonder how much framing for one of these big guys would be?

C U P & S A U C E R.

Is it weird to be totally obsessed with dishware? I'm constantly imagining dinner parties, picnics, and brunches with fabulous dinner wear. Beautiful cotton napkins, table runners with tassels, water decantors, i want all of it. Right now we have so many dishes i've had to banish some to the basement for safe keeping. I'm even so crazy that i bought the most perfect intricately painted blue plates and saucers-for a cabin that we're wishing to get in the future (not the near future). I just can't stop the madness!

Anthropologie, Yokoo, Sartorialist.
LOVING:
-Mix-matched dishes with ethnic prints, both chic and country at the same time.
-Cozy knit pillow cases made from old sweaters, mixed with a beautiful bold bedspread, for a nautical-navajo feeling that somehow works.
-Simple, simple, chic- classic colors, knits, and natural hair. Something that fits all past and present eras.

The Brick House, FFFFound.
Plants around the house just lend to a more 'alive' feeling- literally. They make it feel like my house is fresh and classy, and they still look cool when they dry out. Cactus are especially easy to take care of, and if my boyfriend hadn't put the kibosh on bringing any more plants into the house, i'd be making the simple terrariums from Brick House. Maybe i can talk him into it, ha!

O M N S.

Since i haven't had any time to decorate lately, i've been obsessed with interior design. Lately im loving anything that that feels a bit cluttered and homespun. Knick knacks, pottery, throw blankets, oriental rugs, i want it all.
I am self diagnosing myself with OMNS, Obsessed Manhattan Nest Syndrome. I have been browsing the blog for two days straight- this isn't normal, and am becoming more and more sure that i could and should do every DIY on the site.

I N S P I R A T I O N S E N S A T I O N.

I've been gathering pictures like a mad women, i just can't get enough inspiration lately. Things im obsessed with:
-Native American Print Pillows that look one of a kind, thrown everywhere
-Gorgeous Sun Rooms with Barn Board walls, perfect for lounging with a coffee and book
-Cultivated Plants organized by the bunch, with perfectly lively printed curtains
Anything light and airy, that screams comfortable living, has got me drooling lately.
